Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate, and President of the Cambodian People’s Party, wrote a message on Facebook regarding the establishment of the Border Infrastructure Construction Fund (BICF), which CNV is providing the unofficial translation as followed:
The Border Infrastructure Construction Fund (BICF) initiated by Prime Minister (Samdech Thipadei) Hun Manetat at the request of the people has taken shape and active participations.
Through this fund, we will see the true spirit of national solidarity in the field of defense from all walks of life of our nation, and in particular, we will be able to know if those who accuse us of cutting four or more provinces and giving them to Vietnam are donating any money?
If they are afraid of losing the land, it is now a good time for them to get involved in building roads, schools, hospitals, wells and etc, in the new villages where the Royal Government will distribute land to landless people to live and settle as residence there (along the border).
It is our expectation that the landless people will receive land for cultivation, along with infrastructural support such as road, water/irrigation, electricity, schools, hospitals, etc. Moreover, the people’s national defense foundation is strengthened through the lively presence of our people on the border, making it stronger than concrete fences or multi-layered steel, and even better than deploying troops and weapons for protection.
I am calling on our compatriots to participate by making contributions, no matter how small or big, and checking on whether those accusing (the RGC on the border issue) would do from their parts? This is not a perusing and stepping on someone’s heel, but we want the Cambodian nation to unite and protect the land should we be afraid of losing the territory./.
