On 28 January 2016, Samdech Techo Hun Sen granted audiences separately to Ambassadors of Cuba, the United States of America, and European Union in the Peace Palace. Meeting with HE Juan de Jesus Hidalgo Gato Perez, new Cuban Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia, Samdech Techo gladly recalled the two countries’ relations started back in 1979 and highly approved the determination of the Cuban Ambassador in promoting cooperation between Cuba and Cambodia.
In a successive meeting, HE William A. Heidt, new US Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia, affirmed that he will do everything that brings interest for the two countries, especially what was discussed between Samdech Techo and Secretary of State John Kerry recently. Samdech Techo reiterated to the US Ambassador that economics and trade relations between the two countries are foundations for further Cambodia-US relations in other sectors.
HE George Edgar, Ambassador of the European Union, expressed great pleasure over the positive relations between Cambodia and EU, especially in the field of education, agriculture, and others. He also hailed the fact that Cambodia scored successes in implementing the Millennium Development Goals that are foundation for further expanding cooperation between Cambodia and the European Union. Samdech Techo Hun Sen express great thanks for the assistances provided by the European Union for Cambodia and proposed that EU continues to cooperate with the Royal Government of Cambodia to score successes of more prioritized projects for the sake of strengthening better relations between Cambodia and European Union./.
