Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Chairman of the Supreme Council of HM the King of Cambodia and President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), met online with His Excellency Dimitri Medvedev, President of the United Russia Party, lasting for about 20 minutes in a friendly atmosphere, where they greeted each other for the international new year.
The two leaders highlighted the merits of cooperation between the CPP and the United Russia Party, which this year marks its 25th anniversary. The two parties will consider exchanging congratulatory messages and establishing the necessary events to continue to build on the cooperation that has existed. After appreciating the mutual cooperation with trust, mutual respect, mutual understanding and support when the time and circumstances are necessary, the leaders of both parties will consider changing the visit at an appropriate time both to Russia and to Cambodia.
On international cooperation within the framework of bilateral forums, multilateral forums and regional forums, which are the in-depth discussions, the two leaders reaffirmed their solidarity in safeguarding their respective regional interests, especially strengthening regional multilateralism in their respective regions and the world over, as well as multilateral cooperation, creating an atmosphere of mutual understanding and mutual assistance as necessary in accordance with the rules respected in the United Nations.
The leaders of the two parties see the need for mutual cooperation in the fight against the color revolution, which is a point to think together, seeing that interference in internal affairs has been constant threats to their respective national security. Therefore, the two sides will unite to avoid interfering in the internal affairs of each country, and help each other see and share experiences as needed.
The Russian side supported the leadership of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and congratulated the CPP on its decision to elect Samdech Thipadei as the Vice President of the Cambodian People’s Party, and considered it an appropriate preparation for a succession. His Excellency Medvedev praised the wise decision of Samdech Techo, President of the Cambodian People’s Party, as well as the leaders of the Cambodian People’s Party, for choosing a young successor to continue further the long-term cooperation.
The leaders of the two parties also agreed that the most important cooperation is the rule of law and good cooperation, whereby the National Assemblies and the Senates of our two countries have always cooperated with each other, and the parties represented in the National Assemblies and the Senates have also promoted this cooperation, especially when Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen is going to be elected as President of the Senate in the days to come.
The Russian side affirmed that the Russian senators will continue to cooperate sincerely as close friends to continue the culture and mutual respect of the previous and every generation. The leaders of the two parties have provided support for cooperation and discussions on major forums initiated by Russia, as well as other friendly countries in BRICS, Eurasia, as well as the Russian-Mekong community, as the government of each country are willing to exchange practical cooperation.
In the end, the leaders of the two parties agreed to review the old agreements, to work on new agreements, and other agreements for the sake of reconsidering and continuing cooperation wherever possible./.
