Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi, Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, pledged to assist Cambodia in achieving high international competitiveness, particularly on bicycle exports and other products, speaking in a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on 22 October 2018 in Geneva, Switzerland.
Prime Minister Hun Sen welcomed the UN Secretary-General for the support of Cambodia in boosting economic growth and poverty reduction in Cambodia.
The Secretary-General said that what he enjoys most is the presence of Prime Minister Hun Sen in this conference. He regarded Cambodia as a highly-motivated country, transforming from the least-developed country to lower-middle income country and still moving forward.
Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi informed the premier that the leaders will listen to the premier’s keynote speeches at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.
He said the 2018 forum, attended by 6,600 participants, including 10 presidents and three prime ministers, aims to allow every country share experience and learn from one another, especially Cambodia who has great experience on development.
Prime Minister Hun Sen recalled the first meeting with the Secretary-General in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and thanked to the United Nations for the continuous support to Cambodia.
Although Cambodia has graduated from LDCs, she still has challenges to solve. The Royal Government of Cambodia aims to transform Cambodia into a higher-middle income country by 2030 and high income country by 2050.
Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia is leading a high-level delegation to attend the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) 2018 World Investment Forum (WIF) from 22 to 24 October 2018 in Geneva, Switzerland, under the overall theme “Investing in Sustainable Development.”
At the Global Leaders Investment Summit, Prime Minister will deliver a key note speech on “investment in the new era of globalization and industrialization and also Cambodia’s business opportunities in the context of an integrated market”. The Strongman will also attend the Leaders Luncheon with the Investment Advisory Council during which he will share his vision and experience on the same topic.
