On 14 March 2016, speaking to the opening ceremony on the National Conference on Development of Microfinance in Cambodia, Samdech Techo Hun Sen stressed that people should be careful of non-governmental organizations turned microfinance institutions who provide loans with a seeming intention for confiscating houses and lands of people. Samdech Techo drew attentions on the fact that those microfinance operators do not care if the loans are for business and/or income-generated production. Samdech Techo urged people to be careful with those who present themselves as microfinance operators or loans givers without legal recognition, though they promise high interest, but are in fact bearing nature of cheating. “People must be aware of political parties or members of the National Assembly or political party leaders who would deceive that, if elected, they would cancel all debts while misguiding them to be debts to the state,” he stressed. Samdech Techo urged an arrest on the spot anyone who would launch deception in flagrante delicto. He emphasized that people would continue to be victims of feeling to get more loans and would not bother to repay, and urged police and authority to instantly arrest those politicians rather than supporting actions to confiscate house/land without court’s warrant./.
