Samdech Akka Moha Punnhea Chakrei Heng Samrin,
HE Somchai Wongsawat, Former Prime Minister of Thailand,
HE Jatuporn Prompan, HE Nuttawuth Saikua, other Pheu Thai Members of Parliament, and
Thai brothers and sisters who love peace,
I would like to invite all Cambodians to join me in giving a warm welcome to leaders and peace lovers who are coming from the Kingdom of Thailand. Today is an historic event in the relations between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Kingdom of Thailand. This event is a political message from Phnom Penh, capital of the Kingdom of Cambodia, to the people and army of Thailand, especially those living along the border of Thailand and Cambodia, that bad dreams that occurred in the past are now over. We are currently working on tasks that will bring us all a strong peace and cooperation between the two countries.
Today we all see obviously deep changes in (the two countries’) relations. That is the change from battlefield into market and development. It changes from being a battlefield to a venue of goods exchange and tourism. Sounds of gunfire have now changed to sounds of music and most conspicuous of all is the friendly match here today.
On this auspicious occasion, I would like to express my sincere thanks to HE Somchai Songsawat, former Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, officials of the Pheu Thai Party, as well as numerous Thai Red Shirt people who have traveled a long way to Phnom Penh to join (in this important event) with the people of Cambodia.
I thank all our people, students, artists, musicians, TV crews, local and abroad, for their participation and covering of the event today.
Finally, with the opening of the friendly football match between senior leaders of the Kingdom of Cambodian and senior leaders of the Kingdom of Thailand, please permit me to wish you all the four Buddhist blessings and may the bests win…/.
