… Once again I am in the district of Angkor Boerei after my previous visit to inaugurate the Angkor Borei Bridge and to officiate the constructions of other infrastructures for our people in this district. As I have seen the marvellous pagoda buildings, I have also seen that school buildings are standing along side the Buddhist temple, which makes me understand and appreciate the consideration being given to the priority of education for our children by our Buddhist monks and people. I am grateful to the works fulfilled by the CPP work team in Takeo, especially HE Chan Tong Iv and HE Ou Orhat for their efforts made in the area in generating such a wonderful success, and it should be shared by all of our people here.
… The pagoda is noted to be 85 years old and is located in a geographical condition of being flooded for six months. That is why I have resolved that there are at least six areas of priority that need to be pondered. Our people in this area value boat as bicycle. The pagoda suffers without exception the disaster caused by war in 1970 and the genocide regime between 1975 and 1979. Young people were collected and gathered here as this place is surrounded by water and all means of transports were cut. But our people in Takeo have produced so many senior officials in the Royal Government. When I came to Koh Andet district the other day, school buildings were requested for the district of Angkor Borei and when I come to Angkor Borei, they requested schools for Kirivong. I wish to make one thing clear that these are our common achievement and not mine alone. Whatever is achieved would be common property and it is our people who benefit from schools, roads, canals, etc.
… HE Chan Tong Iv has been very active in this area and he had also helped with the installation and operation of a water pump here. I have talked with HE Chan Sarun just now that we should make a study for new data because area of irrigation has been enlarged to a certain size from just over 20% of irrigated area in the previous study. We have brought in various irrigation infrastructures so I think we must have new data over irrigated areas. As far as I know people in this area could produce between four and five tons of rice per hectare. It is a high yield in the area. So we should create favourable condition so that our people could continue to produce high yield, which should eventually help them alleviate their poverty… I am glad to see that my colleagues are paying no attention to infuriation made by various those who are specialized in blaming others and they seemed to have kept quiet and continued to make more achievements. As far as religion is concerned, our country has been free of religious conflicts and no matter what political belief one party may have, as long as one is trustworthy, one may find others workable together.
Samdech Hun Sen offered on that occasion 45 million Riel for the pagoda of Sambuor Sakor, 15 tons of cement to the pagoda of Samraong Punley, four million Riel to the pagoda of Sovan Kungkea, a sewing class fully equipped to the Senior College of Hun Sen-Angkor Borei, one school building of six classrooms to the people in the commune of Korkthlork, a school building of six classrooms to the Primary School of Kanghal, five million Riel to the villages of Stoeung Kambot and Samaki for the renovation of a dirt road, 32 tons of rice for labour to commune of Prey Phkoam, machines for deepening a canal in the communes of Prey Phkoam and Preah Sre, a school building of five classrooms to the Junior College of Sen Chey and ten million Riel to the Stoeung Kambot Mosque.
