… I have a great pleasure for being able to join with all of you today to inaugurate this marvellous building of Buddhist temple and am grateful to be invited for final ribbon cutting. I am glad to return to Samraong district again of Takeo since I have selected this district for an experimentation of development project aimed at reducing poverty among our people. A number of infrastructural constructions have been provided like the renovation and mending of various roads, dikes and the preparation of the Chi So area into an agro-tourism.
… As I am in the district I wish to thanks HE Mok Mareth, Minister of Environment and leader of the CPP work team in the district, for the efforts he and his team made in helping resolve our people’s hardships. He had purchased 60 pieces of water pumps and had also brought in help by my bodyguard unit for our people in times of drought and need of water. I also thank Oknha Mong Rithi for the assistance he provided in developing the Chi So Development Centre, whose basin could reserve up to ten million cubic meters for use by our people. Takeo could in fact be regarded as a potential tourist attraction place. We have in this province the Angkor Borei city, the mountain of Chi So, the temple of Tonle Bati and natural mountains of Tamao. Once tourists come to visit the place, our people will have more works to do with income. I wish to have your attention on this subject that we have to practice marketing techniques. We must make sure that one tourist to this area will come to visit again and this time with his friends.
… As for Takeo alone, I have built in all 192 school buildings and in Samraong alone I have 57 school buildings. Our team working here survived with the helps of our people and it is quite appropriate that we would not get away from our people. In Khmer there has been a saying that goes we have to share both happiness and hardship. Some people blame me for my efforts to build schools, roads, bridges, temples, etc for the Cambodian people. They said I wish to become a Jayavarman VIII. They should shut up if they could not build these things for our people. I would not dare to be Jayavarman as my surname is Hun and not Jaya. Some people share with our people only happiness, but in time of hardship they just say good bye. As for me, sharing one another’s hardship could be illustrated in times when people need help in irrigation, food shortage, etc.
… I wish to have the attention of HE Minister Chan Sarun on issues of Accasia trees because those Accasia that we grew in 1996, according to the view I got from the helicopter, have grown quite big. So I would suggest that HE Minister take the initiative to find market for our people and I think we planted millions of Accasia. We should no longer chop logs in the forest but work on Accasia for export.
Samdech Hun Sen on that occasion offered 20 million Riel to the Pagoda of Khsach Sar, a school building with six classrooms to the Primary School of Khsach Sar, two school buildings with ten classrooms to the college of Angprey, two school buildings with ten classrooms for the College of Bun Rany –Hun Sen – Slarong, a school building of six classrooms to the Primary School of Seng Commune, fifty tons of rice for labour for the restoration of a canal in the commune of Roveang, and one hundred thousand Riel for each teacher requesting a visit to Angkor Wat in Siemreap province.
