Seeing that huge trucks with trailers in overloaded goods and caused damages to infrastructures such as the recent accident at Tsubasa Bridge and recent knocking over of a motorcycles resulting in loss of life, in his Facebook message posted in the morning of 27 February 2016, Samdech argued that overloaded condition could destroy bridges if they have permission to travel across every day. While expressing his belief that competent authority, especially those with assigned task to station at either side of the bridges must have seen those trucks with overloaded goods, Samdech Techo warned those drivers and companies who caused damages on bridges/roads and accidents on people, and escaped from responsibility, will not go unpunished any further.
Along with order for relevant ministries and competent authority to take stern measures on them, Samdech Techo appealed to people, companies involved in transporting passengers and goods to abide by traffic law and to avoid overloading for the sake of safety and reserving long-lasting quality of our roads and bridges. “(Overloaded Vehicle Control Committee – OVCC) officials whose duty are to check on loading weight of those trucks must open their eyes to see what exactly caused damages to roads and public safety. They should know that they would get equal legal treatment (for negligence of their duty),” Samdech Techo stressed./.
