On 29 March 2016, in the Peace Palace, speaking on the reception occasion of “Peace and Development Award” presented by the Union Media of ASEAN, Samdech Techo Hun Sen reminded about win-win policy that put an end to civil war, in the history of the past 500 years of Cambodia. Having spent two billion USD in Cambodia, the United Nations Transitional Authority (UNTAC) did not achieve. “While you considered me one democratic person, a facilitator for media development in Cambodia …, my competitors considered me a dictator only,” Samdech Techo reasoned and continued “only time will judge, facts will judge and those who promised may not be certain to really achieve it.”
With regard to peace and development, Samdech Techo concluded that “peace and development have dialectical relationship. Without peace, one cannot do development. Without development, peace cannot be kept. To maintain peace, there must be development that alleviates poverty and do away with irregular actions – corruptions and social injustices.” Samdech Techo welcomed and accepted with pleasure the proposal for an annual get-together between Prime Minister and media people to better relations./.
