Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has called on all house owners not to increase the rents when the monthly minimum wage of garment, textile and footwear workers will increase to US$153 from January 2017.
The premier made the appeal while presiding over the inauguration ceremony of Cambodia Beverage Company Plant Coca-Cola in Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone, on Dec. 5.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen said that the Royal Government of Cambodia has tried so hard to improve the living standard of workers by providing them with access to enough use and cheaper price of electricity and water.
Samdech Techo Prime Minister also advised relevant authorities to work with house owners over the rents so that the workers can benefit directly from the pay rise.
