Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen received here yesterday afternoon at the Peace Palace the 29 Cambodian youth delegates who will attend the 43rd Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Programme (SSEAYP) 2016.
According to his Facebook page, Samdech Techo Hun Sen informed the youth delegation of the reasons why Cambodia joined the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and advised them to behave well with dignity and to build relations, solidarity, friendship with their counterparts from other ASEAN member countries and Japan.
The 43rd SSEAYP 2016 will last from Oct. 25 to Dec. 15, 2016. This programme began in 1974 based on a joint statement issued in the same year by Japan and Southeast Asian countries. Brunei Darussalam joined in 1985, Vietnam in 1996, Laos and Myanmar in 1998 and Cambodia in 2000.
SSEAYP was created to foster friendship and greater understanding among youths from ASEAN and Japan as well as to promote regional cooperation.
