This year, there is no Mekong River flooding, but flash floods due to heavy rain in some areas while the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has been intervening in pumping water to store in reservoirs, said Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen while presiding over here yesterday the graduation ceremony for 6,251 students of the Cambodia University for Specialties (CUS).
According to the forecast since early rainy season, the water level would be at 9.30 meters whereas the maximum water level last month (Sept. 22) was only at 8.13 meters.
On the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen called on all people to keep water for their cultivation, mainly in the upcoming dry season, and reaffirmed the resumption of celebration of Water Festival this year.
The premier also re-appealed to the eligible people to register for the commune/Sangkat council election in 2017 and the national election in 2018.
