Japan will establish a consulate in Siem Reap in 2018 to provide convenience for Japanese investors and tourists and to strengthen Cambodia-Japan relation.
The statement was made by Japanese side in a meeting with Prime Minister Hun Sen on Monday.
The delegation were pleased to welcome the premier again, according to the President of the Japan-Mekong Chamber Association
“The Japanese delegation recognized the importance of the economic corridor linking Thailand and Vietnam through Neak Loeung Bridge. At the same time, he asked Prime Minister to assist ASEAN in the ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership,” said the president.
Prime Minister expressed his admiration for Japan, who established the Japan-Mekong Association and the friendship of the Mekong, which is of great importance to ASEAN relations due to the fact that the less developed countries in ASEAN are in the Mekong region.
He invited the President of the Association to visit Cambodia at his conveniences.
