Demining, Trees Planting and South-South Cooperation Re-emphasized

In the meeting with Helen Clark, administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), on October 16, in Beijing, Samdech Techo Hun Sen asked for continued UNDP’s assistance in the clearance of mines and unexploded ordnances (UXOs), a new goal that Cambodia has integrated with the eight UN’s MDGs and the 17 goals stipulating in the Post 2015 SDGs. Samdech Techo urged UNDP to further cooperation in re-planting trees in Cambodia and promotion of South-South Cooperation for sustainability.Relating to gender equality, Samdech Techo emphasized that Cambodia is working on quota of women in national as well as sub-national level administration, while dispatching female peacekeeping troops even to take part in UN’s peacekeeping operations.
