In the very beginning month of 2019, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen will pay an official visit to China during 21-22 January at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.
The announcement of the visit was discussed during the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian’s courtesy call on Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, on Tuesday at the ministry.
According to Foreign Affairs Ministry Spokesman Ket Sophann, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Chinese Ambassador discussed Cambodia-China relations and cooperation, particularly discussed preparations for premier Hun Sen’s visit to China and documents to be signed to ensure fruitful results for both parties.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s visit to China is an important task for Chinese Ambassador’s mission to Cambodia on behalf of a facilitator, Minister Sokhonn stated.
In the meeting, Ambassador Wang also expressed China’s stance to support the leadership and foreign affairs policies of Prime Minister Hun Sen and the Cambodian People’s Party.
It is worth noting that Prime Minister first visited China from February 9-12 1999, which strongly bonded Cambodia-China relations ever since and were upgraded to comprehensive strategic partnership in 2010.
The year 2018 marks the 60th anniversary of Cambodia-China official diplomacy, which was initiated by Cambodian King Father Norodom Sihanouk and premier of China Zhou Enlai.
