Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, presided over here yesterday afternoon the congratulatory ceremony for the petanque player, Mr. Sok Chan Mean, who won a gold medal in the 47th World Championships held from Dec. 1 to 4, 2016 in Antananarivo, Madagascar.
On the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen called on all the Cambodian athletes to pay attention to training. “We are strong, but there would be someone else who is stronger than us, therefore we have to have regular training and stick to discipline,” he underlined.
Hard training is not only for the Sea Games in 2023, but also for other regional and international competitions, he added.
The premier appreciated Mr. Sok Chan Mean, coaches, the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, and the Cambodia Petanque Federation for their efforts in enhancing the Cambodian petanque sector.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen handed over a cash award to Mr. Sok Chan Mean and his coach as well as other athletes, and promoted Mr. Sok Chan Mean to the military rank of major.
