Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received here this morning at the Peace Palace visiting Mr. Jean-David Levitte, former Diplomatic Advisor and Sherpa to former French President Jacques Chirac.
According to a statement released after the meeting, Mr. Jean-David Levitte congratulated the fast progress in Cambodia and highly valued the achievements of the Royal Government of Cambodia after the civil war.
For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen recalled the assistance and support of France and Indonesia in the peace process in Cambodia, especially his negotiations with the late King-Father Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk before reaching the Paris Peace Accords.
No one can make a right forecast on the evolution of Cambodia after the country is in peace, even the World Bank, Japan, and other countries, said the Cambodian premier, stressing that without peace, there will be no development, and without development, peace can not be maintained.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also informed his guest on his recent visit to Banteay Meanchey and Pailin provinces, the main former battlefields with the Khmer Rouge, underlining that he was right to integrate all the Khmer Rouge forces and this was the integration, not only in the political sector, but in all fields, including road infrastructure connectivity.
