Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, sent a message to all his compatriots on the occasion of the opening of new school year, appealing them to enroll their children reaching the school age and to follow up their studies.
The new academic year 2016-2017 was opened in all the schools across the country this morning.
Samdech Techo Prime Minister highlighted the current economic and technological competitiveness, but, he added, technological progress cannot be substituted for human resources.
“A nation does not really progress because of its richness in natural resources, but in potential human resources that can transform their nation into a strong and developed one,” the premier underlined.
In this era of knowledge economy and information technology, a nation’s leverage still depends on human factor that has extensive knowledge and know-how, creativity and skills, therefore the Royal Government of Cambodia will continue to pay high attention to the development of “human capital”, a sharp factor in support of the country’s economic growth, both at present and in the future, while Cambodia has the vision to transform herself into an upper middle-income country in 2030 and a high-income economy in 2050, he said.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also called on the students and youths to stay away from drugs and respect the traffic laws strictly, and asked parents and community members to be more active in educating their descendants, and local authorities to ensure the implementation of Village-Commune Safety policy.
