Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received here this morning visiting Chairwoman of Export-Import Bank of China H.E. Ms. Hu Xiaolian, at the Peace Palace, Phnom Penh.
During the courtesy meeting, H.E. Ms. Hu Xiaolian briefed Samdech Techo Hun Sen on four priority sectors in Cambodia on which her bank focuses, including agriculture, infrastructure, tourism, and textile.
Currently, the Export-Import Bank of China has been carrying out 77 projects in Cambodia, 50 of which are concessional loans for physical infrastructure development, she said, adding that the bank has so far funded the construction of about 2,500 kilometres of road in Cambodia.
Ten projects are small-scale projects concerning electricity sector, and others are rural development and irrigation development projects, she pointed out.
H.E. Ms. Hu Xiaolian praised Cambodia for her rapid progress, especially her stable economic growth which increases confidence of the Chinese government and investors in further investing in the Kingdom.
For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed thanks to the Export-Import Bank of China for its support to the development of Cambodia.
The Cambodian premier laid stress on the royal government’s key policies to further promote the economic growth, alleviate poverty and narrow down the gap between urban and rural areas, and rehabilitate irrigation system for agricultural development.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen underlined that Cambodia needs big and stable Chinese investments in the construction and rehabilitation of roads, bridges, electricity network and irrigation system, and encouraged the Export-Import Bank of China to retain the interest rate at the same rate and to speed up some loan proposals.
The Cambodian leader also expressed his strong wish to see more Chinese investments in Cambodia’s agriculture sector, mainly rice milling, drying and storing.
