… In addition to instruction given out by Samdech Supreme Patriarch to all the Buddhist monks and followers, and the request for two dikes, I would pass this request to the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology to conduct a study. At the Ponhealoeu pagoda, His Venerable Nay Chrouk had requested for a road and it is under construction right now.
… Just now Samdech Supreme Patriarch has mentioned a good number of true events and I agreed with him that no one else could know about farming land more than farmers or about religion than the monks. Just now Samdech Supreme Patriarch mentioned of Samdech Heng Samrin, Samdech Chea Sim and myself. But I always consider, together with other people, that I am just a follower of Samdech Supreme Patriarch and would in this reason give my support forever. I agreed that we have multiparty system but should not be a multi-conflict. The wish of the religious people as well as of the whole population is to have a multiparty and not a multi-conflict situation.
… Therefore, together with Samdech Supreme Patriarch, I would like to place an appeal to political parties and people, no matter what political inclination they may have, to assuage their hatred and to resort to solidarity for the sake of our people and country – both in the Buddhist and Humanist seculars. I also agreed with Samdech Supreme Patriarch’s words that HM who is staying in China for medical checkup would have some concerns over the future of the throne. Samdech Supreme Patriarch and I and other members of the Throne Council have had no knowledge of how and where the issue is coming from.
… Some politicians have played drum on this issue and raised some bad omen on the health of HM the King. If it is a bad omen for HM the King, it is no different to a bad omen for the royalism in Cambodia. Take for instance if they proposed that HM the King has to be selected by the people, I would react with comments that it was not a good idea. Why? Because there are two main procedures that are completely different. One royal procedure is that HM the King has to be selected by the Throne Council, while the presidential procedure would allow the people to elect their president. So, any initiative to propose that HM the King to be elected by people would be seen as abnormal.
… However, as members of the Throne Council, Samdech Supreme Patriarch and I would just like to clarify that those propositions are nothing but bad omen for royalism. A question may well be asked if they really want to keep the royal system or to establish a republican one? May be this remark could serve as advise to those politicians to refrain from going to the extreme. Or else they would fall to hell as Samdech Supreme Patriarch just mentioned that all go to hell. But I myself would not do so as we have been living together for 23 years already – from having no pagodas to there being abundance of them, and to the time when we have up to nine patriarchs.
… Just now Samdech Supreme Patriarch Tep Vong mentioned of old-aged venerable passing away making younger generation of monks being appointed to higher ranks. Samdech Preah Udom Vongsa Muong Ra is 42 years old and Samdech Preah Udom Chakrya Am Limheng is 38 years old. I think that age is not a matter because I myself was Minister for Foreign Affairs at the age of 27, Deputy Prime Minister at 29, Prime Minister at 33. So age is not a problem, but works and disciplines are.
