Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen spent here this morning almost 4 hours with national and foreign conservationists at the 2nd National Forum on “Protection and Conservation of Natural Resources.
The premier expressed his appreciation to all local and foreign stakeholders for their active participation in the natural resource protection and conservation.
In order to help strengthening the communities that have actively contributed to the protection and conservation of natural resources, Samdech Techo Hun Sen decided to establish an environmental fund and each community will receive 4 million Riel (about US$1,000) in 2018.
The Cambodian leader voiced his support to the protection of tigers in Rattanakiri and Mondulkiri provinces, and of mangrove forests and natural resources at the coastal areas stretching for 440 kilometres in Kampot, Kep, Preah Sihanouk, and Koh Kong provinces.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also supported the bamboo planting and strongly opposed the seaweed farming due to its negative impacts on maritime environment and biodiversity.
