Cambodia organised here this morning at the Peace Palace the 2nd National Forum on “Protection and Conservation of Natural Resources”.
This event was presided over by Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen with many senior government officials and foreign ambassadors accredited to Cambodia in attendance.
H.E. Say Samal, Minister of Environment, said natural resources protection is one of the royal government’s priorities, and in an effort to further improve and effectively safeguard natural resources and biodiversity, the ministry has transferred the power from the central to sub-national level.
Up to now, Cambodia has in total 46 natural protected areas and 3 biodiversity conservation corridors covering more than 7.3 million hectares, including the newly-established 32,000-ha natural heritage site of Phnom Yat in Sangkat Pailin of Pailin northwestern province.
