The World Economic Forum (WEF) on ASEAN held in Phnom Penh from May 10-12, 2017 was concluded under the presidency of Cambodia’s Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, and his Lao and Vietnamese counterparts.
Mr. Philipp Rosler, Head of Regional and Government Engagement and Member of the Managing Board of WEF, said the WEF on ASEAN has come to end with success and fruitful result. He expressed thanks to the organising committee and working groups, especially to Samdech Techo Hun Sen, for their contribution for the success of this world event.
Prime Minister Hun Sen said this forum showcased the regional unity and harmonisation and thanked all friends and participants from different sectors and countries who gathered at the three-day forum.
“I hope that this World Economic Forum on ASEAN will become an important forum that will expand the integrated spirit and globalization,” he underlined.
On the occasion, the Cambodian premier handed over the Ceremonial Swill Bell to H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister of Vietnam, to be the host of the WEF on ASEAN 2018.
The WEF on ASEAN 2017 attracted more than 700 participants from 40 countries. Among them, there were over 90 public figures, representing the 10 ASEAN nations, including four ASEAN Heads of State/Government – Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen of Cambodia; Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic; President Rodrigo Roa Duterte of the Republic of the Philippines; and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Besides, more than 200 media organisations, including 14 major TV stations, took part in covering this forum.
