Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen received here yesterday afternoon at the Peace Palace visiting Mr. Sun Fuyou, President of Huawei’s South East Asia regional operations.
According to his assistant, H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Samdech Techo Hun Sen informed his guest that Cambodia needs not only an e-government, but also e-people in order to be able to compete with others in the fields of economy, social affairs, and other sectors.
The premier thanked Huawei for its donation of 1,000 sets of high-speed internet system worth US$4 million to Cambodia. He encouraged the company to further discuss with H.E. Tram Iv Tek, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, in order to make Cambodia have access to high-speed internet.
For his part, Mr. Sun Fuyou updated Samdech Techo Hun Sen on his company’s plan to dig 50 water wells in Cambodia which would begin next month, and on 11 Cambodian scholarship students who have been pursuing their IT studies in Beijing, China.
