Cambodia’s Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen attended this morning the inaugural ceremony of the 9th Plenary Session of Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA).
The APA 9th Plenary Session, hosted by the Cambodian Parliament under the theme “Promoting Peace and Sustainable Development in Asia,” will take place from Nov. 28 to Dec. 2, 2016 in Siem Reap province, home to the famous Angkor temples.
This regional meeting attracted senior parliamentary delegations from at least 25 APA member countries, as well as observer countries and partner organisations.
APA was founded in Iran in 2006. It has currently 42 full member parliaments, including Azerbaijan as the new member, and 17 observers. The APA plenary session is held every year in December. The APA president is elected from the member parliaments for a two-year term of office.
Cambodia assumed the presidency of APA in 2015, succeeding Pakistan.
