Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, held a get-together with some 1,000 representatives of Achar (laymen) and Acharini (laywomen) from across the country, at Chaktomouk Conference Hall, Phnom Penh this morning.
This is a yearly meeting between Achar and Acharini throughout the country to promote capacity and understanding and exchange experience on the national culture, tradition and customs.
Cambodia is a Buddhism-practicing country with 95 percent of the population are Buddhists. In the Cambodian society, Achar have played a very important role, especially in ritual ceremonies of people’s life cycle, from birth to death.
