Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has reacted against the opposition party’s intention to conduct a mass protest to demand a “political solution”.
“For already two days, the opposition leaders have threatened the national stability through the organisation of a mass protest to demand the so-called political solution. There is no political solution that can be found by political parties because it is the court’s jurisdiction,” underlined the premier on his Facebook page yesterday evening, appealing to the person who committed a mistake not to take the nation as a hostage and the political party as a shelter hiding his/her own mistake.
“I’ve already ordered all competent forces to be ready to take action against all unlawful acts to defend the people’s happiness. At any cost, [they have to] protect the political stability, security, and social order, because these are the nation’s and people’s needs,” he added.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also advised the protest leaders not to think only of their freedom of expression without caring about others’ rights including those of the royal government. “Rebellion in the city to cover the person who was sentenced by the court is not allowed,” he stressed.
“It’s not a threat, it’s more than a threat because it’s the command to all the government’s forces to be ready in order to get rid of all the forces attempting to destroy the national security and I have the right to say so because it is the Prime Minister’s right,” Samdech Techo Hun Sen said.
On Sept. 9, H.E. Kem Sokha, Acting President of the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), was sentenced to five months in prison and a fine of 800,000 Riel (Cambodian currency roughly US$200) for not having appeared as a witness in court.
H.E. Kem Sokha, which has been hiding at the CNRP’s headquarters since May 26, did not show up at the court’s summons twice to answer to questions related to a sex scandal case.
