On 23 January 2016, receiving HE Tanasak Patimapragorn, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Thailand for a cordial visit and working discussion, Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen agreed on the proposition that the football match between the Cambodia All Stars and Thai Burriram United was a rare opportunity and good event of the two countries’ relations. Samdech Techo also nodded to the initiative to have a joint Cambodian-Thai football team to compete with teams from other countries. He delegated the work to Deputy Prime Minister Sok An to organize and make recommendations on how to take further action to the Cambodian-Thai Friendship Association.
On the night of 23 January 2016, after the match was over, Samdech Techo decided to offer rewards to all 36 footballers and their trainers and expressed his appreciation and encouragement to Cambodian sport leaders and footballers for their efforts to score the victory over one of the best football teams of Thailand./.
