On 21 of October 2015, under the presidency of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the Cabinet’s plenary meeting adopted the Draft Law of Financial Management for 2016 with a commitment to abolish road tax on some means of transportation such as motorcycles, tricycles, tractors, agricultural machinery and small boats. While agreeing to the modification and determination of tax on heavy means of transportation with impacts on infrastructure and environment as a compensation, the Cabinet also adopted the Draft Law on State Budget Settlement for 2014. Samdech Techo appeals to the armed forces and relevant institutions to actively participate in mobilization of income while preventing tax evasion, and advising a speedy distribution of jackets to troops before arrival of the cool weather season.
It is worth reminding that the approved draft earmarked a budget law for 2016 in total 17,612,477 million Riel (some US$4.3 billion). According to a press release of the Press and Quick Reaction Unit of the Office of the Council of Ministers, the Gross Domestic Product per capita in 2016 expects to reach US$1,325.
