Samdech Techo Hun Sen signed on 31 October 2015 a circular making it public that the Royal Government of Cambodia has cancelled the upcoming 2015 Water Festival’s boat race event to hold in Phnom Penh Capital City from November 24 through to 26. The circular made low level of water in the Mekong River as main reason for the cancellation of the celebration of annual water festival this year.The circular also made clear that other events composed therein the water festival will take place as usual, while civil servants, employees, and workers will also have their three days off. It also recommended relevant ministries, institutions, and local authorities to continue to pay high attention to solving the water shortage issue. Particularly, on 1 November 2015, at the Handicap Soldiers Development Centre at Ta Ken Koh Sla, Chhouk district, Kompot Province, Samdech Techo also recalled the Royal Government’s decision to cancel the boat race event in the 2015 Water Festival celebration.
