On 17 November 2015, presiding over the welcoming and decoration and reward presenting ceremony for the sportswoman Ke Leng, gold medalist of the 15th Women World Petanque Championships held in Thailand and trainer, Samdech Techo Hun Sen affirmed that reason for rescheduling of the celebration of Ke Leng’s victory was because the country was in midst of National Day celebration.There was nothing of discrimination or political reason as presented by some in Facebook, Samdech Techo Said. He also enlightened that gold medals won consecutively by Ke Leng in 2013 and again in 2015 are Cambodia’s honor, for which the Royal Government of Cambodia, on behalf of HM the King and all 15 million Cambodians, present her with its highest decoration of Jeatobaka.
To continue to encourage sportsmen as well as to promote sports, Samdech Techo advised the Ministries of Public Functions, Education, Youth, and Sports and the National Olympic Committee to discuss and define a formula of promotion for those in the army, police, military police and civil servants whose practice of sports will bring gold medals for the country.
In another note, for the upcoming water festival celebration, Samdech Techo appealed to people throughout the country to come for celebration of festive activities in the capital of Phnom Penh and allowed for a boat race event at provinces.
