Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen reassured citizens that the excessive presences of China in Cambodia, particularly in Sihanoukville, is positive, speaking in a meeting with more than 900 Cambodians in Switzerland on 23 October 2018.
“They [Chinese] come to our country to invest. Cambodian human resources do not effectively respond to the demands of Chinese investment,” the premier stated adding that, “It would be illegal for Chinese to settle in Cambodia. Once they finished their works, they will return to their countries.”
Cambodia does not have China Town yet, but such Town exists in France and U.S.
The Strongman of Cambodia underlined that: “China has never invaded Cambodia, whereas other countries have done. Chinese investors and tourists come to Cambodia, hence bring jobs and economic growth.”
It is worth noting that China’s investment in Cambodia ranked the first, according to the Council for the Development of Cambodia. China has invested $17 billion in Cambodia as of April 2018.
