Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen departed Phnom Penh Thursday morning to attend the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly to be held in New York, 27-30 September 2018.
All compatriots know the famous Khmer song “Farewell to Serve the Country,” the premier wrote on Facebook attached with his selfie taken on a plane.
He recalled that back in the day, he served and fought for the country by using weapons and invested life as the capital to liberate and protect the nation.
“I experienced war enough and I don’t want the next generation to taste it,” the premier said added that “today I farewell the nation again but I fight by using foreign policies.”
Strongman of Cambodia underlined that Cambodia shall not be exploited in any forms.
Prime Minister his farewell this time will contribute to easing regional and international tension and that he hopes to meet his supporters abroad and report to them the general situation and development of Cambodian motherland.
It is worth noting that Cambodia serves as Vice President of the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly 2018-2019.
This year, the UN General Assembly and its relevant meetings will be convened under the theme “Making the United Nations Relevant to All People: Global Leadership and Shared Responsibilities for Peaceful, Equitable and Sustainable Societies”.
In New York, Prime Minister Hun Sen will deliver a statement focusing on recent development and major achievements made by the Royal Government and on various regional and international issues of common concerns, according to the press release of Cambodia’s foreign affairs ministry dated on 21 September 2018.
Prime Minister will hold separate bilateral meetings with António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations; Boyko Borissov, Prime Minister of Bulgaria; Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli, Prime Minister of Nepal; and will have cordial interactions with other Heads of state and government from other countries.
