Prime Minister Hun Sen called on Cambodian intellectuals to do scientific research to provide inputs to the government in order to ensure the challenges are addressed with sustainable and efficient growth; to prevent issues resulting from war on trade; and addressed other global challenges such as increased oil prices.
War on trade is happening between the US and other six developed economies like Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, UK; between US-China, US-Mexico, US-India, said Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen speaking at the honoring titles ceremony of Cambodian Royal Academy on Tuesday morning at Peace Palace.
The premier added that this global economic issue will affect Cambodia; hence, we must jointly prevent and solve.
He considered the increase of tax on one another among the developed economies a lose-lose policy.
According to the premier, Cambodia is still facing a number of complex issues in the midst of a rapidly evolving globalization, especially in technology and science, global polarity, urban trends, climate change, transnational terrorism, and war in some areas. Besides preparations to prevent global issues, Cambodia is working to attract more investors. In this regard, Cambodia’s high-cost electricity is still a challenge for investment, he said.
He added that scientific research has brought about initiative and innovation, contributing to the development of the country, responding to regional and global integration. Cambodia must be more proactive, learn in advance the issues and solutions in all aspects, both sub-region, region and world, particularly issues that may affect the interests of Cambodia.
