Prime Minister Hun Sen on Friday congratulated the Muslim community in Cambodia on the ending of Ramadan.
“My wife and I would like to congratulate all the Cambodian Muslims as well as other Muslims in the world for ending a month of fasting on Ramadan […] May Allah bring you all happiness” the premier wrote Friday on Facebook.
Ramadan is a month of fasting for Muslims worldwide, which began on 17 May 2018, to commemorate the first revelation of the Quran to Muhammad, according to Islamic belief. During this holy month, Muslims abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs to purify the soul, re-focus attention to their faith, and practice self-sacrifice. The Iftar is the evening meal Muslims have to break their fast during Ramadan.
