Small sellers throughout the country will not need to pay “Pheasi” (daily tax imposed on merchants) anymore for their businesses, according to a new circular signed recently by Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.
Under the existing regulation on market management in the country, the sellers at the markets have to pay “Pheasi”, but in order to improve their living standard and reduce poverty, the Royal Government of Cambodia has decided to cancel that kind of tax for the small sellers, especially those who sell their farm products on baskets at a temporary place.
In addition, the local authorities are advised to provide them with security, safety, sanitation and good environment with high attention, underlined the new circular.
